Turn Me On, Goddammit!2011-08-28 17:45:44Nordisk Film & TV Fund reports that Jannicke Systad Jabobsen's feature debut Turn Me On, Goddammit! (Få meg på, for faen!) rocketed to the top of the Norwegian charts in it's opening weekend, selling 36740 tickets in three days to become the biggest Norwegian opener of the year. Systad Jacobsen's tender tale of sexual awakening won Best Screenplay at the Tribeca Film Festival last April and the young director was selected as one of 10 "Directors to Watch" by trade magazine Variety. Turn Me On, Goddammit! is based on Olaug Nilssen's eponymous novel.
Turn Me On, Goddammit! is a film with many similiarities to the Swedish classic Show Me Love (Fucking Åmål) from 1998, even though it might lack some of it's edge: Alma, a teenage girl in small-town Norway, is horny and on the look-out for love. She becomes a social outcast after claiming to have had an encounter with the private parts of the schools heartthrob Artur. Her world is turned upside down and she desperately want to get out of town and on with her life. Turn Me On, Goddammit! tells a humorous, bittersweet and tender tale of teen angst and horniness, set among the mountains and fjords of Norway.
Turn Me On, Goddammit! (Få meg på, for faen!) will be released on Blu-ray and DVD November 30 and is available for pre-order.
